Mike Thorson began his career at Allied Steel in 1989 as a fabricator. For years he was founder Mike Exe’s right hand man as they developed products and cultivated customers that to this day remain the backbone of the company. As Mike worked his way up through the ranks of the company his constant dedication, determination and ambition paved the way for his current position of General Manager here at Allied Steel. When Mike isn’t running the company he enjoys spending time with his family, camping, boating, landscaping and going on nice drives.
Russ was brought on as a project manager in 2002 and has excelled ever since, including a promotion to his current position of shop foreman in 2004. With nearly 30 years of industry experience at his disposal Russ has proven to be an extremely valuable commodity to Allied Steel. In his leisure time, Russ enjoys hunting, road trips to the coastline in his motor home, and taking his ’55 Chevy to car shows.
Merle came to Allied Steel in 2001 with a plethora of knowledge of the Steel industry due in part to his colorful background that includes owning and operating his own welding company for a number of years. Merle’s devotion and loyalty to Allied Steel has played a large role in the success of the company. If Merle’s not at work you may be able to catch him on the open road, as he is a big fan of road trips. Merle also has a passion of antique, classic, and custom cars.
Mark has held nearly every position imaginable over his 35+ years of experience in the industry including fabricator, detailer, estimator, project manager and owner. In 2003 Allied Steel was fortunate enough to obtain Mark as an employee, gaining his expertise and wisdom, which has proven to be a tremendous asset to Allied Steel. When he’s not at work, Mark enjoys spending time with his grandkids, classical music, hotrods, and is a history buff.
In 2002 Dawn was promoted to the head of the shipping department less than two years after being hired by Allied Steel. Her previous management experience coupled with her flexibility and willingness to adapt has helped catapult Allied Steel to new heights. When Dawn isn’t managing the shipping department she enjoys camping, fishing, cooking, and simply lounging in the sun with friends, family, and her dog Riley.
Nancy has worked at Allied Steel since 2005 as an accountant but has been involved in the industry her whole life. Nancy is committed to contributing her skills to support the standards of excellence at Allied Steel. Nancy enjoys spending time with her three adult children who share her love of being active.
Justin started working for Allied Steel fresh out of High School in 2005 as a shop helper/cleaner. His unique blend of fabrication skills and warm personality quickly catapulted Justin up through the ranks of the company to where he is today: project manager. Justin also goes to school while working full-time, and will be completing his bachelors in Business by 2015. Justin continues to be a rising star here at Allied and he impresses all those he works with.
